Black Mirror - DANIEL PQUÉ

“Nosedive” is the first episode of the third season of the British series Black Mirror. The starring actress, Bryce Dallas Howard, is not famous, at least I have never seen her before in other films or series.

The main character is a young girl called Lacie, who lives in a world that is dominated by social networks. Specifically, one where you can rate people from 1 to 5 in order to evaluate their behaviour and the perception you receive from them. In addition, you can post pictures and comment them. Lacie has 4.2 points out of 5 and she wants to improve that classification. Consequently, she tries desperately to get along with everyone to raise her grade being excessively kind. Time later, she receives an invitation from a childhood friend, who is going to celebrate her wedding, and she accepts to improve her 4.2. Due to some difficulties, her rating falls below one and she ends in prison.

On the one hand, what I loved the most is that this episode is a truly representation of the society nowadays. They give their perspective from a critical point of view trying to concern us about the influence that social networks have in our lives.

On the other hand, if I had to think about something I disliked, it would be the repetition of the facts and the evaluation of every single thing in the episode.

Having all the previous in mind, I certainly wouldn’t recommend it because, to me, it was predictable what was going to happen. Give it a miss!

Black Mirror - Mario Cerezo

“Nosedive” is the name of the first chapter of black mirror that I have ever seen. This sci-fi episode compares the real world with one that is not far enough with lots of new advantages in technology area.
This chapter shows us the story of a world where you have advantages if you have good assessment in the social media however if you have bad assessment you will suffer marginalization. The main character is Lacie that wants to buy a house in another neighbourhood despite the fact that she will need a better assessment to afford it. Consequently, she will adopt a new style of life that will please others but will show a Lacie that is not being like she is.
On the one hand we have the fact that they show us an absolutely interesting new world with multiple possibilities that could happen in a close future. In addition it has a great soundtrack and also a very elaborated script.
On the other hand the story of someone that is not very charismatic character and is always pretending to be someone that is not does not attract me furthermore the plot could be better.

To sum up if I were someone that wants to watch black mirror I would not start watching this episode because it is very boring and will disencourage you from watching more.

BLACK MIRROR - Jordi Rojas

NOSEDIVE

Last days, in English class, we watched an episode of “Black Mirror” called “Nosedive”. It’s a film of science fiction directed by Joe Wright.

The protagonist is called Lacie, she lives in a world where people rate each other according to their interactions, publications in social media, etc.
Lacie wants to move to a luxury apartment, but due to the price, she needs to reach 4.5 to get a discount of the 20%.
She is a 4.2 so she needs a boost to reach a rating of 4.5. He decides to post a picture of her doll called Mr. Rags, to call the attenion of her old friend Naomi who is a 4.8. When Naomi saw the picture, she invited Lacie to her wedding, because she wants Lacie to deliver a speech. Lacie accepts because if she do a good speech all the people of the wedding, who are 4.6 or above, they are supposed to rate her with 5 stars.

On the day of the flight a lot of problems happen to Lacie, due to this she explodes, saying a lot of swear words causing her rate to fall down a lot.

When she was arriving to the wedding, Naomi tells her not to come because Lacie now is a 2.8 due to a lot of missfortunes.
Lacie decides to go, ignoring the advertisments of Naomi. When Lacie arrives, she makes a scene and the police comes to take her to jail.

There she meet a man, and both of them realize tha now they can talk and say wathever they want, without worring about their ratings.

I liked a lot this episode because it is a really good critic of our reality, because the social media, nowaday is similar to this. Also I loved the end because although she ends in jail, now she is free to say whatever she wants.

In conclusion it's and episode that I would recommend, because it leaves you with a different perspective of the social media nowadays.

Film review - Nosedive

Nosedive is one of the chapters of Black Mirror, a sci-fi series created by Charlie Brooker in 2011.

The main character of the story is Lacie, an office worker who lives in a world where people can rate other people kindness. She gets obsessed with the points because she must obtain a 4.5 to rent an apartment. In order to obtain that 4.5, she restores the contact with an old friend of her who is 4.8 and who is getting married soon. She trusts that if she gave a speech in her wedding, everybody would rate her very positively, and she would obtain that 4.5.  Finally, due to a host of unforeseen circumstances, nothing goes as she expected and she doesn’t achieve her objective.

From my point of view, what I more liked is the message that the plot wants to transmit. If we are conscious of the damage that social network can do to us, we will be prepared to manage social networks in a positive way in a near future.  However, I think that the chapter is quite short. If the director had added more minutes, the result would have been amazing.

In conclusion, I totally recommend this chapter because it’s very important to realize how new technologies can change our world and our lives in a positive, but also in a negative way.

BLACK MIRROR- ISMAEL OULAD-SIDI

Black Mirror it´s a British television series created by the Charlie Brooker and produced by Zeppotron for Endemol. The director of this series is Joe Wright. The series revolves around how technology affects our lives, sometimes bringing out the worst in us.

Lacie is involved in an alternative world where each person has an electronic score. This score goes up and down depending on your relationship with people and the rating they give you. If you are bordering on people, they will put a bad score on you. If you are kind, good person, and you are generous with people, they will give you a good score. If you have a good score you will have popurality, luxuries and benefits in your life. But Lacie becomes obsessed with the score and ends with a very low score because everything goes wrong and people put a bad score to Lacie.
The positives things that haves this episode I think this chapter gives a vision of how the future could be in a few years, it also gives a vision of how people can get to very extreme points so that they are popular in social networks. There are not negatives things in this episode.
In conclusion I think this is one of the best chapters that the series has and the one that best gives a vision of young people with social networks. I highly recommend this episode to all young people that nowadays have social networks.

Black Mirror - Bernat Brossa

Nosedive
Nosedive” is a chapter of the series Black Mirror. Black Mirror is a British science fiction anthology series. It mainly focuses on humanity’s relationship to technology and its consequences.
The plot of the chapter talks about a society that using eye implants and mobile devices, people rate their online and in-person interactions on a five-star scale. This system makes fake relationships, as a person's rating significantly affects their socioeconomic status. The main character is Lacie, Lacie is a young woman currently rated at 4.2 and keen to achieve self-improvement, hoping to reach a 4.5 rating to qualify for a discount to a luxury apartment. This makes her tries to gain favour from highly rated people, as they have larger impacts on scores.  At that time, when school friend Naomi asks her to be maid-of-honor at her upcoming wedding, with many highly rated guests, she see a great chance to achieve her goal. After a series of mishaps on her way to the wedding that send her ratings plummeting, Naomi calls Lacie and tells her not to come. However, Lacie manages to get to the celebratory dinner. Moreover, ends up doing a series of things that lead to the end of 0 score.
I like this chapter especially because it reflects, very exaggeratedly, today’s society. About as the social networks make us have the need to be valued by other people. This makes us aware of other’s opinions about us.
I heartily recommend this chapter. The background message are very good and see it if you can.

NOSEDIVE

Last days, in the English class, we watched an episode of “Black Mirror” called “Nosedive”. It’s a film of science fiction published in 2016. The director is Joe Wright.

Lacie, the protagonist, lives in a world in which people rate each other according to their personal interactions, their photos, the way they greet or the way they look.
Lacie needs a 4.5 to get a discount on a luxury apartment. Then she decides to upload a
photograph of Mr. Rags, a rag doll that she and her childhood friend Naomi made together.
Naomi had one of the highest qualifications and when she saw that picture, she invited Lacie
to deliver a speech like the bridesmaid.
On the day of her flight to the wedding, several setbacks cause people to rate Lacie
negatively, lowering her rating. Her flight is canceled and she causes a scene. After several
misfortunes, she decides to hitchhike. A truck driver wih very low qualification,
Susan, carries her. After a few minutes, Naomi tells her not to attend for his qualification.
Lacie arrives at the wedding and begins to deliver the speech she had written. Her
qualification falls below a star and she ends up in jail. She and a man realize that they can
now talk without worrying about being qualified, and their insults are thrown.

I liked because it is a criticism of the society with the relation of the social networks. In addition, I liked because at the end, it defends on freedom of expression. The only think that I didn’t like is how it ends. I would like it that all the people had a low score.

In conclusion, I recommend it because it’s an episode very shocking and if you watch it, you will have another perspective of the social medias.

Black Mirror Chapter

This chapter, called Nosedive, was written by Charlie Brooker and directed by Joe Wright. Its plot is based on a world where society depends on a social media platform that allows you to rate other people in a scale from one to five.

The main character, Lacie Pound (Bryce Dallas Howard), is a young woman obsessed with achieving a 4.5 and his way to do it is going to a Premium wedding. But in her journey to get there, things go wrong and her popularity goes down.

Before the wedding, Lacie met a person who didn't have the same sick mentality. Her name was Susan (Cherry Jones) and she worked as a truck driver. She thought that her life didn't have to relay on a rate and she had to do whatever she wanted.

To conclude, it's a very interesting chapter but it all turns down in a second, specifically at the final scene. It really has an intense ending.

Black Mirror is a science fiction TV series created by Charlie Brooker, set in the United Kingdom . Each episode has a different meaning, with a different environment and a lot of different realities, but it is about the way in what we can arrive if we don’t live carefully with the new things of the future (TV, social networks, etc…
Season 3 Ep1 the plot of this episode, its about a girl, who is a Little bit popular in the social networks from the city that she lives. All the things that she wants to buy is with her popularity, according with more stars better average. She wants to have a better house, and the only manner that she has to be more popular is begin to behave with a girl that bullys her in the school. Finally she get on well with the girl, and the girl invites her to her wedding with a lot of famous people, she tinks that is her moment to bright.
The better things about that episode is how they believe that the future will be and the reflection that they want to make understand us.
The only fault i can find, is that we can see just begin the episode is that the begining is a Little bit boring, and do not call the attention to the public.
In conclusión it’s a twisted serie I recommend it for the people that likes science fiction films. And the final its a Little bit sad. But as usual not all the finals always are happy.

Black Mirror review - MARCOS LÓPEZ

Black Mirror is a British science fiction TV show directed by Charlie Brooker in which each chapter is different, just like the characters.

Nosedive is the first chapter of the third season of Black Mirror. The chapter tells the story of a woman who, in a supposed world in which social status depends on networks, tries to raise her level of popularity to be able to access a discount for what was going to be her new home, which had a very high cost. With this, she ends up leaving her friends aside in order to surround herself with popular people in order to increase her level of popularity. In the end she ends up realizing that the friends she had made did not want her, but just like her they wanted to gain popularity.

What I like best is the fact that people was friendly with her when she had a good score in social media but didn’t when she had a bad score shows how this world works. When someone has money and a good social status the people are nice to them and when they don’t the people are mean and treat them worse.

In conclusion, it is a good chapter and holds the spectator’s attention until the end. I find it imaginative because expresses a possible world in the near future, and whose end is predictable but at the same time intriguing. I definitely recommend it!

Film Review - Oscar Gallardo

“Black Mirror” is a dramatic serie created and directed by Charlie Brooker. Brooker said that each episode talk about our life currently, but each episode have a different reality and topic. In this case, we have seen the first episode of the third season.
The plot is that everyone is classified by the scoring given by other people. This scoring give us privileges that help you get things. It tells the story of a woman that wants to buy a house in a better neighbourhood and she needs more points to have a discount in the price. The main character gets an opportunity to rise her scoring, and if she rise her scoring, she will buy the house that she likes.
The plot is gripping, when you starts to understand the story, you cannot stop the episode. In addition, the plot looks very realistic and believable, the special effects and costumes are very convincing.
The only fault I can find is that some finals are predictable.
In my opinion, is a well-written drama serie that could entertain you if you give it an opportunity.

Film review - Marina Díaz

“Nosedive” is the first episode of the third season of Black Mirror, a sci-fi series. These episodes show what would happen if the technology took the control of the society.

The main character, Lacie, starred by the actress Bryce Dallas Howard, works in an office and lives in a world that seems perfect where all the interactions are evaluated in social network and where predominate the obsession to have a good reputation. When people rate you well, your score raise. Her school friend Naomi (Alice Eve) has a good image, and Lacie is desperate to join her to increase her score, because if she has a good rating, she will get a more privileged life.

The best thing about “Nosedive” is the plot that reflects a possible reality. Also, I really like the final scene because you don’t expect it.

The only fault I can find is that the film is rather too long and there are moments that it gets boring.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend it, this episode will make you think twice about the way society works.

FILM REVIEW / BM (Leo Alòs)

A few weeks ago, we watched an episode of Black Mirror, the popular British science fiction anthology television series created by Charlie Brooker.
Each episode is different from the other: the character, location and script are new but they all share the same plot. It examines modern society, particularly concerning the unanticipated consequences of new technologies.
The episode that we watched was about a girl in a world where everything spins in the idea of ranking, depending on your rank you can buy things cheaper and other advantages but some other stuff is limited based on it. Said girl appears to be very well ranked by the society but a group of circumstances out of her reach will reduce extremely her rank among others and getting her jailed up in a kind of psychiatric institution.
I liked it a lot because it has some similarities to our world in terms of the influence of social media. What I didn´t like much was the end and all the bad things that happened to the main character,
even though I understand that that's the idea of the whole series.
In conclusion, the episode is about social media as the centre of society, I would recommend it to everyone because it's kind of short and has a very deep message on our society.

FILM REVIEW

“Black Mirror” is a british science-fiction series produced by Netflix and Channel 4.  The director of this series is Charlie Booker although Annabel Jones serves also as the programme showrunner. The episodes have different plots, so the series don’t follow the same storyline but there have always something in common, the negative vision of  a near or far future. That is reflected on the episode we tried to watch in class “Nosedive”.

The chapter directed by Joe Wright is about a girl called Lacy who wants to buy a luxurious apartment. But in this future, society has embraced a technology wherein everyone shares their daily activities through eye implants and mobile devices and rates their interactions with others on a scale of one to five stars, affecting the status of every person. Lacy can’t afford that house but if she gets a 4,5 of rating she will get a discount. Since that happened, Lacy tried her best to be kind to people which had high scores so she could have that rating quickly. By posting a photo of a toy, her ex-best friend Naomi who had almost a perfect rating, invited her to her wedding as the maid of honour.  But a couple of unfortunate events due to this obsession made her to lose all the rating she had and to get crazy at the point of entering prison.

The most interesting thing of the chapter is its moral: it’s a story that makes the audience reflect on how technology can affect our lives and how the opinions of the people can affect the behaviour of somebody. Maybe if she had behaved in another way being kind to people but with her own personality, the story would have ended in a better way. Another good point of the episode it’s the recreation of locations such as futuristic houses or business.

One fault that I can find is that there are parts that are a little bit repetitive and boring, especially at the beginning and that there are parts that blow your mind but in the negative meaning of the word. If I were the director of the series, I would make more dynamic episodes.

In my opinion Black Mirror has better chapters than Nosedive, but this chapter is perfect in terms of special effects, locations and meaning and I had enjoyed it a lot.

Nosedive
“Nosedive” is first episode of the third season of the British dystopian science fiction series Black Mirror. Based on a story by Charlie Brooker, creator of the series, the script was adapted to television by Rashida Jones and Michael Schur. The chapter was directed by Joe Wright and it was released on October 21 of 2016.

The story is set in a world which people can qualify and be rated by frequencies of one to five stars in each social interaction they make. It tells the story of Lacie, a young woman who is obsessed with her grades. She’s chosen by a popular childhood friend as the bridesmaid of her future wedding in order to increase her qualification. After a bitter discussion with someone, his personal qualification begins to reduce rapidly.

The fact which makes this chapter enjoyable is that Lacie is the type of protagonist who can make you laugh at every scene where she is in there.

The only fault I can find is the fact that people there are always focused on their ratings. They never pay attention to the things which really matters in their environment and that is not wealthy.

It’s a funny and a tricky chapter which I really recommend. Lacie’s life can actually change the point of view of this world in many different ways. Go and watch it if you can!

Black Mirror review

Nosedive is the first episode in the third series of the British science fiction Black Mirror, a series original from Netflix. The plot of the episode is about in a fiction world, where people can rate each other from one to five stars for every interaction they have and this tries to reflect what would happen if society made a massive abuse of innovation and technology.

The story of Black Mirror is based on a story of Charlie Brooker, the creator of Black Mirror, but this episode is directed by Joe Wright.

The location of the episode was South Africa, because the director and the producer think that is a very good place for film.

The actress Bryce Dallas Howard have the role of Lacie, a girl obsessed to begin popular.

She decided to bought a house, but she didn’t have enough score to paid it. So she contact with an old friend that is Naomi, that was very famous, with the goal to increase her score. Naomi invited Laci to her wedding, which started a trip that led her to the misfortune. So Lacie thinks that if she had had more popularity she would have had more things

I like this episode because the episode try to make aware that this is a wrong idea, and throw a very important message: Will you have popular if you are most important? This is a very good question for answer.

Nosedive

Black Mirror is a sciencie-fiction serie set in United Kingdom and directed by Charlie Brooker. It was premiered in 2011.

The story takes place in the world where society is adapted to technology and all share their daily activities and rate the moment shared with other internet users through an application, which produces a public classification that determines the social status of each user.

The plot is based on the obsession of the main character: Lacie Pound. She lives  with her brother, Ryan, but she wants to move. She likes a luxurious apartment in an exclusive neighborhood. Its price is too high, but she can get a discount if she has a 4.5 rating

Later, Naomi, her ex best friend calls her to invite her to her wedding and to be her bridesmaid. She accepts the invitation, because an agency that advises how to get your social rating tells her that if she makes a good speech at the wedding, the spectators will give her a good score and she will reach a 4.5 social rating.

Honestly, I did’t like this chapter very much. In my opinion if the story were more worked, I would have liked it more. However, the message that it transmits about new technologies is very good, because nowadays a lot of people depend heavily on technologies. It tries to reflect the dark side of the technological era.

                                                                     Nosedive
Is the first episode in the third series of the British science fiction anthology series Black Mirror. Michael Schur and Rashida Jones wrote  the episode, based on a story by series creator  Charlie Brooker, while Joe Wright acted as director. It premiered on Netflix on 21 October 2016, alongside the rest of the third series.

The episode is set in a world where people can rate each other from one to five stars for every interaction they have, which can impact their socioeconomic status. Lacie (Bryce Dallas Howard) is a young woman overly obsessed with her ratings; she finds an opportunity to elevate her ratings greatly and move into a more luxurious residence after being chosen by her popular childhood friend (Alice Eve) as the maid of honour for her wedding. Her obsession leads to several obstacles on her journey.

In conclusion, I will say that the episode has a repetitive point where it arrived at this one, the chapter becomes a bit boring, however it deals with a very important issue that is the abuse of technology.

Film Review - Albert Betorz

Yesterday I finished watching the chapter “nosedive” of the British science fiction series “Black Mirror”. Is the first episode of the third season, is directed by Joe Wright, and the leading actress is Bryce Dallas Howard.

The plot of this episode reflects the use of an application in a very technologically advanced society, this application consists of scoring the people you meet in your live (if you talk with somebody you have to rate it). The protagonist Lacie Pound is living with her brother, but she needs to look for a new house, because they have to go out of the house where they are living. She decides to live in a house, but she needs to get a discount to be able to pay for it, and for that she must get a rating of 4.5 in the application, but she only has a 4.2 score, so if she does everything possible she would get that punctuation.

The best thing about this episode is that you can see the bad side of technologies in the future.

And the only two thing I didn't like are that it is a bit boring and repetitive, and also, I didn’t like the final scene.

In conclusion, if you like the futuristic series I recommend to you to watching this episode.

Film Review- Roger Bustos

I’m going to talk about a TV series called “Black Mirror”, specifically the first episode of the third season “Nosedive”. It was released the 21st of October of 2016.The main actors are Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve and Cherry Jones and the director is Joe Wright.

The plot of the episode is about social networks and how modifies the people behaviour, everything turns around scores, if you have a bad score you are nobody in the social status. The main character is Lacie Pound, a girl that try to impress everybody to reach a good grade, and achieve the minimum score to have a bonus discount in a good apartment. Her best friend with a 4.8 of grade, (the maximum is 5), is a high school colleague that have a lot of success in her life. She tells her to be her bridesmaid.

A good thing is that you can see a way of a far future, because the world can became like this. Not so strong, but in the future you may need a good reputation for do whatever we want. I think that actors act well, although they are not very famous

Bad things, the final scene. I won’t say anything but I disagree, I would put another.  And I don’t like that they are always with mobile phone, they life only for the Social Network rating. In the future the technology will be very used but not so obsessively.

Overall I recommend it only if you like the SF series  or if you would like to know a possible but not completely, neither real nor sure, because nobody in the world knows what the future can bring us, is a mystery.
